meet dr. shannon rizzi,
dentist, jackson family dental
shannon rizzi, dds
formerly dr. shannon mccaul
when dr. rizzi was four years old, she was jumping on her bed when she fell off and hit her front tooth on a storage bin. two things she learned from that day were: 1. listen to your mom when she tells you not to jump on your bed and 2. sometimes a bonked tooth will die and turn gray. dr.rizzi’s older brother dubbed her gray front tooth her “black tooth,” as brothers do. from then on dr. rizzi was very curious about teeth, even after her infamous “black tooth” fell out and was replaced by a normal, healthy permanent one. a few years later, eight-year-old dr. rizzi started telling everyone she was going to be a dentist when she grew up!
dr. rizzi grew up on an elk farm outside of rolla, missouri where she learned the value of hard work from her parents and four older siblings. on the farm, she learned a little bit of everything… bottle feeding baby elk and cows, which roosters to run from if they start looking at you the wrong way, catching crawdads without getting pinched, growing all the fruits and vegetables you can in the missouri climate, getting honey out of a beehive without the honeybees swarming, and whatever other hobbies her parents decided to take on over the years. dr. rizzi’s childhood cultivated her deep love and fascination with nature and biology and many of her own hobbies are now a result of that.
